I am a Family Physician fortunate enough to live and work on the Sunshine Coast, BC. I started my career as a full-service rural Family Physician, however following my own wellness journey, I now combine my interests in clinical care (ER and mental health work), leadership (presently as the Associate Local Medical Director for Sechelt Hospital), and physician wellness (as a Peer Support Champion for Vancouver Coastal Health, offering Mindful Self-Compassion trainings for healthcare providers, and facilitating retreats such as this).
Discovering and embracing self-compassion has been the most transformative component of my own wellness journey, with profound impacts both personally and professionally. Grounded in the teachings of Kristin Neff and Chris Germer, I blend the science and foundational elements of mindful self-compassion with experiential practices, helping to empower female physicians to develop new ways of interacting with themselves, their colleagues, their patients, and their loved ones. Retreat participants leave with personalized practical, tangible approaches to integrate into their daily lives.

Testimonials
“At our inaugural Wellness Weekend Retreat for Sunshine Coast physicians, Dr. Jennifer Baxter organized events and led workshops that were inspiring, engaging and nourishing. I left feeling more connected to my colleagues, and introduced to healing practices and experiences that were both thought provoking and heart-warming."
~Dr Sara Nimmo, MD, CCFP
"I attended Dr. Baxter's 2-day wellness retreat for physicians on the Sunshine Coast. I found her to be a wonderful facilitator, with a great balance of insight and questions, and pauses for reflection. It was such a great opportunity to connect with other physicians on a deeper level, and also to explore and understand myself. Dr. Baxter's kind and non-judgmental manner allowed me to be truly vulnerable, and in doing so let go of some of my guilt, challenges, and be a truer more authentic self. She also facilitated a wonderful and relaxing yoga session, and I really enjoyed the integration of physical activity and relaxation. I would strongly recommend any physician to attend Dr. Baxter's retreat. It is a fantastic investment in yourself and your well-being!"
